Early on the stage, five optimistic riders attacked on the first climbs of Climbs of Peta. They managed to keep a gap between them and the peloton until they reached the final climb. At the bottom of the climb, the group of favourites passed them. Rider by rider, they couldn't keep up with the tempo set by Motor Motol , who were supporting Micha? Urbanowski. Right behind the riders of Motor Motol was Van Landry and Friedbert Aubert lurking. Micha? Urbanowski looked strong, and seemed to have a good day, but when Friedbert Aubert launched an attack, only Van Landry could follow. Van Landry made a counter-attack and was suddenly alone in the front, as Micha? Urbanowski caught up Friedbert Aubert once again. Van Landry secured his victory without problems, while Micha? Urbanowski was faster in the sprint than Friedbert Aubert.
Clarence Beagle, manager of Hoosier State Cycling, was happy with the result: "The whole team did well today. Everything turned out as we hoped, and luckily, Van Landry was the strongest rider out there today."
The win is Landry's first in Division 4 and places the team on the edge of cracking into Division 3. Landry now ranks 127th in the world and looks forward to challenging for a top 100 position by the end of the year.
